Convert a foreign price into your own currency
Work out the price of an overseas item or a trip cost in your own currency. Rates come from the European Central Bank (ECB) reference rates.
Rate date and update time
The rates are ECB reference rates, published around 4 p.m. Central European Time on each business day. They are not updated on weekends or public holidays, so the rate date may be a few days old.
Why the amount you pay can differ
Card foreign transaction fees and the bank exchange spread are added on top, so the amount you are actually charged may differ from the result. Use this tool for reference only.
Supported currencies
The converter supports the major currencies that the ECB publishes reference rates for, about 30 in total. A currency that is not in the list cannot be converted.
Frequently asked questions
- Why are these not live rates that change every minute?
- This tool uses the free ECB reference rates. The reference rates are published once a day, so they do not move minute by minute like market quotes.
- Is my information sent to the exchange-rate service?
- No. Our server fetches the rates and keeps them for one hour, and your browser only talks to this site.
