How to Make a 1200×630 OG Image for Link Previews

2026-11-08

How to create a 1200×630 Open Graph (OG) image, the thumbnail shown when a link is shared on social media or messengers.

What an OG image is

When you paste a link into a messenger or social network, a small preview picture often appears with it. That picture is the Open Graph (OG) image, set in the page's meta tags.

Steps to 1200×630

1. Add your image to the Social Media Image Sizer.

2. Under "Size", choose "OG image (share thumbnail)" and check the output is 1200×630.

3. Under "How to fit", adjust the "Crop to fill" area so the title or subject is not cut off, or choose "Fit with padding" to show the whole image.

4. Press "Save this size" and the file downloads.

Placing text

OG images often carry a large title. Keep the text big enough to read in a small preview, and leave some space from the edges, because text touching an edge can look cut off.
