Blur & Mosaic Image

Draw boxes over the parts of a photo that should not show and hide them with mosaic, blur or a black box. Cover several areas at once; the file never leaves your browser.

Blur or mosaic parts of a photo to hide faces and private details

Draw boxes over faces, license plates, addresses or text on screen, and hide them with mosaic, blur or a black box before saving.

Three ways to hide

Mosaic splits the area into blocks and fills each block with one average color, Blur mixes the colors inside the area so they smear, and Black box fills the area with solid black. Mosaic and Blur have a strength slider that sets block size or how far it smears. Strength is measured against the long side of the photo, so a large photo looks similar to a small one.

How to use it

Add a photo, then drag on the image to draw a box over each area you want to hide. You can draw several, and Undo last and Clear all take them back. The preview shows the same effect right away. The same method and strength apply to every area.

Hiding things safely

The saved file does not keep the original pixels of the hidden areas. For anything that must not be readable, such as text or numbers, raise the strength or use the black box; a light blur can sometimes be read. Your original file is not changed, and the saved file does not carry EXIF shooting data.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is processed only inside this browser and is not sent anywhere.
Does it find faces automatically?
No. There is no automatic detection; you draw the areas to hide yourself.
